COCURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

EDUCATIONAL FIELD TRIPS-

Since children learn best through direct experience, we organise outdoor field trips to nearby places. Children who are 3 and above go on field trips. Trips are carefully planned to support and enhance what is being learnt in the classroom.

ART & CRAFT-

Most of us instinctively know ART is important for our children because we have seen our children in deep
concentration spreading colours on a sheet of paper with a joyful expression on their face.

Art and Craft is like fun and games, it helps them to get creative, developing the right side of the brain.
They develop certain life skills through this like problem solving skill, social and emotional skill and fine motor skill.

When a child draws a picture of a park he connects it to his feelings and he draws all the faces smiling and happy
he puts in bright colours thus communicating beyond verbal knowledge.

"How do I make orange colour" "this tape isn't holding....... what I should use instead" these are thought of and answered by the child itself thus leading to discovery and developing their problem solving skills. Snipping paper with scissors, squeezing glue, pasting beads, holding a crayon etc develop their fine motor skill.

ETIQUTTE CLASS-
Grandma gives your child an outfit she spends hours picking out and your little one responds "I don't like blue dress". Yikes! It's time to revisit the lessons on manners. Good manners convey a sense of respect for the sensibilities of other people. Three important ideas shape good manners- Customs, Common sense and Consideration.

When you say "Thank You", you're taking the time to make the other person feel appreciated.

Saying "Please" respects a person's right not to do what you've asked [it's not demanding with "please" attached]. It's a big favour to a child teaching them Etiquettes.
While no one is perfect, imagine a culture where good manners just don't exist – Not at all a pleasant thought!

Having etiquettes meets a social expectation kids are expected to have. With this the parents earn more respect. Teaching etiquettes is not about impressing anyone but building your Childs confidence, awareness and consideration of others. With these tools they will succeed wherever they choose to go.

It is basically "Building a Brand Called You." Learning how to set the table before lunch, how to eat with the help of knife and fork, introducing polite terms and practices in an exciting way, telephone manners etc. These are some of the things that will stay with your child for the rest of his or her life.

COOKERY CLASS-
'You can work through every curriculum area using cookery'. If you consider the skill in measuring , weighing , pouring, spooning , mixing , the scientific effects of heat and cold, reading and writing of recipes and menus it truly is a very enjoyable, practical and an all round subject. We encourage the parents to involve their children in food preparation. A child who is interested and involved in food preparation will be more inclined to taste it also.

DANCE & MUSIC –
How many of us first learned the alphabet by singing the ABC song. We highly value music and dance. Children love sound. Music help children to develop important skills like thinking, language, motor coordination and understanding emotion. When children play with musical instruments, they explore its cause and effect. They see that pressing a key makes a sound. They learn to pay attention to changes in sound, noting that certain sounds are deeper than the others.

Songs with motions help children practice fine- motor coordination. Doing the finger motion of song like 'the itsy bisty spider' or a finger play like 'five little monkeys' helps children practice their hand and finger control---- a skill necessary for writing and handling small objects.

When a child sings they learn to pronounce words and make sentences.

DRAMA –
Starting with dressing up and role play, drama has central role in everyday nursery life.
Children love to express themselves and pretend play enables their imagination to develop as they lose themselves in their other worlds.
We stage stories in the class with moral themes. Every child in the class has a part they learn songs, dialogues,
put together costumes and scenery and props.

SUMMER / WINTER CAMPS –
This is a programme that is conducted for the period of 15 days during the summer break.
It's a theme based programme capturing the interest of children through art, craft, drama and music.
It helps the children to spend some quality time together with different peer group adding a new dimension to their existing knowledge.

PARENT AND CHILDREN ACTIVITY –
Children change constantly. You think you know them and what they like....... then they change.
Toys games and activities are easier to choose if we with parent's partnership understand Childs stage of development.
For this we plan certain programs where we invite parents to take part in group activities involving their child.
This helps parents understand their children and ease out their stress.
They also observe other children of same age group which ultimately help them to understand their child better.
