PROGRAME

Springdale's focuses on three major programs for children. They are Learning and Development, Relationship Building and an Enabling Environment, thus we form a unique child out of every child we have.

In the First year a child learns to walk, in the Second year it learns to talk, in the Third year it learns to think. Walking, Talking and Thinking are spiritual milestones that all human beings experiences irrespective of where they are born but what is most important is the first 2000 days in a child 's life.

An ongoing research proves that music helps children think, reason, create, and express themselves.Children laugh
and learn about rhythms, vocal melodies and different musical    instruments which also   lower stress.  To facilitate
thinking we introduce various mathematical concepts like numbers, counting, addition, subtraction, shapes and solids.
Maths is everywhere and giving your child a clear concept now will help him later.

Children are born with billions of brain cells but unless we interact with them and develop programs that encourage
the synaptic connections between those cells, they actually die off;    this is the window of   opportunity to develop
thinkers and lifelong learners. And also in these 2000 days children develop    learning strategies, how to think and
solve problems.

We at Springdales' want children to be in love with learning and be curious about things. Children are natural born scientist; they are always observing, experimenting and inferring about things in their environment. Our teachers are trained to pose the right questions that encourage the child to think. Children need to interact with other children as well as with adults and develop independence. Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates and all areas of learning and development are equally important and interconnected.Very early in life children begin exploring the world with their bodies, senses and developing skills. They intuitively know how to make the smallest observation, object or surprise and turn it into a meaningful experience. But of all this they are curious, they want to find out the Who, What, Where, When, How and Why of everything around them.

Keeping all these things in mind we have divided learning into two broad areas:
PRIME AREA and SPECIFIC AREA.

Prime Area includes Communication and Language Development; Physical Development; Personal, Social and Emotional Development.

This area of learning and development involves giving children opportunities to experience a rich language environment, to develop their confidence and skills in expressing themselves; and to speak and listen in a range of situations.

Communication and Language has different aspects like listening, attention, understanding and speaking. Learning to voice ideas, observations, experiences and curiosities, distinguishing between sounds and becoming familiar with rhyme, rhythm and alliteration, expressing effectively and showing awareness of listeners needs these skills are developed as children listen to lots of exciting and interesting stories, through crafts, cooking and other planned activities that follow instructions involving ideas or actions, playing in big and small groups, exploring the sensory garden, music, art , sand and water play and discussing how and why things happen.

Physical development involves moving, handling, health and self care. We Provide opportunity for children to be active and interactive and to develop their coordination, control and movement. Children are also made to understand the importance of physical activities and healthy choices in relation to food. They learn the importance of keeping healthy and the factors that contribute to maintaining their health, managing their own basic hygiene and personal needs, including dressing and going to the toilet independently. Children learn to move with confidence, imagination and safety.

Personal, Social and Emotional Development is also a prime area of learning and this includes helping children to develop a positive sense of themselves and others, to form a relationship and respect for others, to develop social skills and learn how to manage their feelings; to understand an appropriate behaviour in a group and have confidence in their own abilities. We promote Self confidence and self awareness in children when they try new things like speaking in front of a familiar group, choosing toys and verbalising when they do and don't need help, we encourage them to talk about themselves and also of others feelings. This helps children to understand their and others behaviour and the difference between the acceptable and unacceptable behaviour. We teach them making relationship addresses and the concept of taking turns, playing cooperatively and listening and talking. General play and focussed activities such as playing games, working together to complete a task and sharing news helps.

Specific area includes development of Literacy, Maths, Understanding the World, Art and Design. This specific area involves encouraging children to link sounds and letters and to begin to read and write. Literacy has 2 aspects – Reading and Writing. We encourage reading through our library area. Children do a lot of' mark making" to improve their early writing skills. They use water with paintbrushes, chalk, felt tips, crayons, paints and pencils.

We focus on Numbers, Space, Shape, and Measure for this we plan activities which include number walk, number songs, using number in play and everyday life and counting activities. To explain shape, space, measure, quality and weight we take our children on a nature walk observing shapes and a play with sand and water to explain quantity and weight. This area of learning is in the world all around us and we support your Childs learning by making them observe the environment around them.

We encourage children to talk about their own home, holidays and celebrations to give them an understanding of the community we stay in.

Technology is all around us. We provide them with computers, tablets, cameras, torches, radios, and other electronic toys which encourage their technological development.

Children have access to paint, pens, pencils, glue, scissors, cards, tissues, fabric, ribbon etc to explore their creativity and imagination. Music sessions, dressing up outfits, role plays is a great way for children to express themselves. The lovely thing about this is that it allows the child to lead their own exploration of materials or process, it helps them to work as part of the whole group, stimulates creative thinking skills and problem solving solutions and most importantly it builds confidence and self esteem.

It is vital to be aware that it is a process rather than the product or finished article that is important,so when we send something home that leaves you wondering what on earth we have been teaching your child, please remember that for a young child selecting a picture from a magazine, then honing their scissor skills to cut around it or through it and then deciding where to position it on a paper before gluing it in a place is a very important task from which they are developing skills that will prepare them for the next stage of their life.
